Actividades: Back to the future Futuristic decoration is hot, it transmits an image of modernity, creates a high-tech atmosphere and evokes the esthetic of classical movies such as ‘2001’ or ‘Clockwork Orange’. Go futuristic in your next event: cold lighting, projections on the walls, 60’s furniture (preferably dark to absorb the light)... and neon lighted trays! Dress up your waiters in white synthetic material, use a soft light (a good idea is to illuminate the bar and tables from inside the furniture), and serve bright coloured drinks, such as berry red, ice blue or electric green, to highlight the futuristic effect. You can also create an area with UV lights to add another visual dimension! Country, zen and minimal Forget the typical round or square trays and choose more innovative shapes! For a zen atmosphere, use long, rectangular china trays in colours such as mauve, black or lime green and place on top, simple white cups with coloured sauces and long breadsticks. You’ll create an oriental and minimal effect. Another option is to serve steam cooked vegetable brochettes in wooden Chinese boilers, for a fresh and healthy effect. If you wish to create a country atmosphere, change trays for wicker baskets and fill them up with cereal bread rolls or home-made sweets, to evoke granny’s warm kitchen’s sensation, or just use wooden trays in simple colours, and place fresh flowers next to the plates or glasses... Classical foods revisited ….or at least that is what the latest trends in catering say. Down-to-earth food that evokes fond memories, traditions, a good meal shared among friends and family... are back, as simple presentations which hand over protagonism to what is being served. Even the most basic food can be presented with flair. Serve consommé in fine china tea cups, or vegetable puree in martini glasses with silver spoons. Another option is to serve fried vegetables, or any other finger food, in paper cornets in the old way –as the classical English fish and chips wrapping, all very, very basic. Simplicity, tradition and homely flavours, away from an overloaded decoration and elaborated dishes... High-tech trays Catering trays are good supports for logos. They can be printed in the centre of the tray or on the edges, in a showy size or more subtle, combining its colours with those of the food that is being served... The latest thing are trays with screens from which you can transmit logos in dynamic formats or images of the event while it is taking place. They give a contemporary and technological impression and can be used to communicate any message to guests in an original way, which they will surely remember for a long time...
