Using a podcast in events

Actividades: The podcast is defined as an audio and video file usually created by a weblogger on interesting subjects, and is one of the latest communication trends. The limit is the author’s imagination and creativity. Some use a script while others prefer to improvise; some see it like a radio show, and combine music and information (audio or video), while others create shorter exclusively audio podcasts. The same as with the weblogs! Some use programmes that read index files and download the information automatically and transfer it to an MP3 reproducer. You can also download the file to be listened to or viewed on a desktop or laptop computer. Podcasts are changing the way we communicate because they can be downloaded on demand to a portable device. Podcast creators, or podcasters, can also employ the Web to set up subscriptions to podcast feeds, whereby users can sign up to automatically receive new podcasts as soon as they become available. Events professionals have just recently caught on to the power of podcasts. They are deploying these messages via the Web in the hopes of creating stronger, more profitable connections by both marketing their events and distributing event content to a wider audience. How can I use the podcast in my events? More than just recording the event as a whole, content should be created, editted and broadcasted. Focus on shorter formats and one-on-one interviews. Some companies produce podcasts in the months and weeks leading up to an event that feature previews to market the live conference. Who can podcast? You really need a broadcast perspective, like a radio show. A suggestion is that if your company does not have someone who possesses these talents, consider hiring an experienced podcaster for your event to get the most out of podcasting. Will podcasting my event reduce my attendee revenue? Nothing replaces the face-to-face encounter. Some companies allow live attendees to enjoy free access to the podcast once they have paid to attend. Another option is to sell podcast-only registration for those who cannot be onsite to add extra revenue. What are the values podcasting helps me communicate? The use of new tools such as the podcast in events does not only enable the communication of your event to be more effcicient but gives the event (and the brand) an up-to-date-in-communication-technology image, which is key in a technologically non-stop world.
