Ways of applying urban culture in events: Urban art as decoration There are multiple decorative options: graffiti to decorate the walls of the venue with artistic creations or messages related to the brand. It is important that the graffiti is well done, better to contract a professional artist than to avoid a bad application of the art. Another option is to apply creativity in your event through urban furniture, such as stacking up wooden platforms for seating, petrol cans as stools, or street gates as area barricades, or you can create fun, contemporary decoration with many different objects such as televisions to recycled materials, or even a concrete mixer! Any object can be turned into art with a touch of creativity… Videogames are considered digital art these days and can be another attractive option for events: guests can take part in games, or they can serve as decoration through projections on the walls or the floors of the venue. Better if videogame projections are combined with music played by a VJ. Live graffiti An interesting entertainment for events: an urban artist working live before an expectant audience and making an exclusive creation for a brand (preferably directly on the wall, if not on cloth). Combine it with music; live or played by a DJ depending on the product or message that is being transmitted. It can be a short entertainment (a quick show in 4 minutes) or it can last all through the event (the artist goes on working and attendants can watch the evolution of the creation). For an added visual effect, use infrared lights on the area where the painting is being done to highlight the colours of the paint. Graffiti as activity Graffiti can also be a collective work. Make attendants take part in a creative activity (“together we create”). Have a specialist to guide the participants while they work, to assist them or give them ideas –he can be the first to start and have participants follow him. To do so, various supports are valid, preferably a long white wall so everyone can work together side by side which helps promote collaboration among the group. Another option can be to draw on the floor (street art style) with sprays or chalks. Don’t forget appropriate gears to avoid people from getting dirty! Battles and dance Rap battles can be a very dynamic and animated entertainment in an event; it can be adapted for the occasion, with fun messages related to the event or the brand. It will give the event a high dose of energy! Attendants can also take part in the battle and improvise their own lyrics, and be guided by a professional rapper to give a higher quality show. Dancing is another fun option: the 80s are back! So why not contract ‘breakdancers’ to animate the show, and to teach the guests a move or two! Urban sports “Extreme” basketball, ‘juggling’ football, skateboard or roller skate ramp… these can be used as entertainment in an event or an activity for attendants to take part in. You choose!
