Actividades: Although it is said that a picture speaks a thousand words… many times words can be the real protagonists. Events are one of the best media to communicate messages in an effective way and where creativity can be unlimited. Sometimes, it is not necessary to think up complex ways to grasp the attention of attendees to transmit concepts, ideas or messages. Use what is most at hand. ¿Such as? Play with words in your next event. Put them creatively in different elements within the event. Cushions One of the decorative elements most used in events, either in lounge areas, in events with a lifestyle setting, or in break areas, etc. Cushions help attendants feel comfortable in an event, but can also be used to communicate concepts or messages. We are not talking about sentences stamped on cushions (which can pass unnoticed) but cushions in the shape of letters which together form words. An original decorative complemment and a fun way to communicate, as seen in the Winter edition of the Bread & butter 2007 fashion trade exhibition (see eventos magazine nº 9 (in Spanish)). Walls Walls can also be very useful tool to comunicate messages in a fun way, be it a solid wall or a huge canvas drape to write on concepts, thoughts and messages related to the theme of the event or to the product that is being launched, for example, as seen in a recent première where the walls were decorated with quotations from the film to grasp guests’ attention and create a specific atmosphere... Giant letters Another idea is to use giant letters as decoration and to communicate key words related to the event. An example: according to the concepts you wish to relate to the brand or product, form words using giant words and put them in strategic points in the venue for everyone to see. To create interaction: jumble up the letters and make attendants form the words they wish. You can also play with different sizes of words within the same phrase, make words to be emphasised larger than the rest. Alphabet soup Catering is also a good media to communicate. How about serving an alphabet soup in your next event? It can be a good complemment to decoration. Letters used as decorative elements and letters... even in the soup. A fun option for an event with a literary theme, for a book or a magazine launch, or in fun press conference (words are journalists basic tool!). Also, words and letters as decoration on tablecloths and napkins, plates and glasses, even on cutlery. Live Other ideas we have seen from recent events are: drawing letters on the knuckles of the staff of the event (see photo), so that putting both fists together it forms a word. A fun way to interact with guests. Another more traditional way to catch attendants attention but also fun and effective: stamp messages related to the brand or event on the t-shirts of the staff. It can be used to strengthen the theme or story of the event.
