Actividades: Chocolate, chocolates
Chocolates, mmmm… Just the aroma and the thought of the divine cocoa encourage a celebratory spirit of indulgence, love by all. The industry of chocolate has since revolutionised. Today you can get a wide variety of chocolate choices (chocolate with tea, ginger, etc.), in different forms (figurines, shapes, etc.) and in different appearances (logos and brands printed on chocolates). Transform the event venue into a chocolate factory and let your guests indulge in this heavenly bittersweet creation.
Remember though that everyone is passionate about chocolate and some may even have allergies to cocoa.
Decoration:
You can name the chocolate factory with name of your event, your company o your product if you are doing a product launch, for example. Greet your guests with the aroma of chocolate as they arrive (use a scent machine). Fill the space with oversized cogs, wheels and gears, as well as props such as giant “chocolate” pieces and sacks of cocoa seeds. Tables are draped in satin brown linens, covered with sheer brown organza. Cover chairs with brown chairs covers and sashes. Contrast the brown with splashes of gold to give the event an elegant look. Centerpieces can be of floral decoration in gold pots or simply a crystal clear bowl with chocolates bars and colourful M&M’s. If budget allows, you can even get provide chocolate-made mini sculptures. You can also combine fresh flowers with some twirling sticks of chocolates to give a creative and original touch.
Menu:
Naturally, different forms of chocolate “inventions”… from bars to handmade truffles will promise to a real treat for chocolate lovers. Try different concoction for cocktails such as chocolate martinis… The meal itself can stray from the theme such as meat or fish, but you can try to combine it with a fruit-chocolate sauce. Poultry usually goes well with a sweet fruity sauce. And of course to end the meal, nothing but a dessert with chocolate.
Activities:
You can have a chocolate making demonstration with taste-testing and take-home treats, and even a little workshop to explain how chocolate is made from cocoa seeds and the different varieties of chocolates that exist. Everyone will leave your event full of sweet dreams!
Winter wonderland
Tranquility and purity… relaxation and fun. You don’t have to wait for snow to use this theme.
Decoration:
Create the winter scape with sheer white fabric draped around the venue, iridescent props of icebergs, snowflakes and stars, lighting and linens in cool hues of coblat blue and Arctic purple-a combination of colours that gives a sense of grandeur. Ice blocks and carvings capture the attention of all the guests present. You can even use ice blocks to create a cocktail bar or cocktail tables. For cocktails, serve a variety of chilled martinis which are carved from ice. You can also use smoke to give a “chilly” effect.
Menu:
Elegant chilled dishes such as caviar, lobster (if budget allows) or oysters and sushis. Serve ice-creams and sorbets for desserts or even cakes with ice-cream sauce. You can also add variety with warm dishes of typical “winter food” such as stew.
Among the cocktails, include “chilled Martini” or even better, beverages from the cold climate (vodka on the rocks, warm wine, orujos (liqours distilled from grapes remains), or even hot chocolate!
Activities:
A wind quartet to provide smooth and relaxing music during the reception and dinner. A balloons-drop and confetti to trigger the celebration.
Medieval charm
Gargols, wizards, magic… A mysterious theme that thrills and surprises your guests.
Decoration:
If you can find a gothic-style venue for this event theme, it will already minimise your decoration and to provide the right atmosphere for the theme. If not, you can darp walls and ceiling with rich velvets, sculptures of medieval figurines, or try projections of medieval images. Enhance the decoration with tapestries, wrought-iron candelabras and suits of armor. Minstrel music adds the solemn charm to the event.
Menu:
Go for oversize food: turkey legs, large baked potatoes, soup served in hollowed loaves of bread and huge rolls. For dinnerware, you can use large pewter plates, goblets and rustic flatware. For a specialty drink, serve hot mulled wine from a steaming cauldron.
Activities:
Costumed jugglers, maidens and knights provide colour and to mingle with the crowd for photo opportunities. For hands-on activities, set up an archery contest (using toy arrows), or even grape-stamping session to make wine.
Consejos: Some tips on festive themes:
Festive themed events aim to give your guests a good enjoyable time. So, to ensure just that, bear in mind the following:
- Don’t set a stricy dressing code, such as formal and black tie affair. Some may resent the need to rent or find the appropriate outfit just for the occasion.
- Don’t limit entertainment to just music and dancing. Offer alternatives such as interactive games, fortune tellers.
- Don’t overdo the food. The menu does not always need to fit perfectly with the theme. Most of the time, people like food that they are familiar with. Be sure to offer vegetarian choices and non-alcoholic beverages, so all tastes and religious/cultural backgrounds are not only accommodated, but truly satisfied.
