Circulation of air in the venue On the surface, Feng Shui is the simple interaction of humans and their environments. Much of Feng Shui is simply good common sense, sound architectural design and intuition. So, as irrational as it may sounds, when you go to a site inspection, how comfortable and good you feel on site is important. A venue with little light and low ceiling, for example, may make you feel “trapped” , so if you have to use that venue, make sure you put enough light to brighten up the area and use decoration and mirrors to widen the venue visually. You may even want to consider putting in extra ventilators for better air circulation. Clean traffic flow, both of air and human movements, is important. The more your guests feel free to roam in the designated areas within your event, the less restricted they will feel. Avoid cluttering and overwhelming any area of the venues with decoration. Let the space breathe! It is also important that the main entrance of your event is not obstructed to facilitate a good flow of chi; this is to say that guests can easily enter into your event without having too many obstructions. It should be well defined, clear of clutter, bright and open to give a pleasant arrival to your event. Use of plants Plants freshen the atmosphere, clean the air, and bring beneficial energy into your home. Strong and healthy plants offer revitalisation into the space. Strategically place your plants in uncluttered areas to allow the energies that flow from them to be best distributed into your rooms. Here are a few helpful suggestions to get your started. In the entrance, place or hang baskets of flowering plants as they have a welcoming energy. Choose round leaf plants over the spiky varieties. In the main area of the event, you can place potted palms to bring the feel of the outdoors inside. Also, place aromatic plants such as Lavender that promotes relaxation and calm energies. Avoid using dry flowers in your decor - these are dead plants that offer no chi-energizing benefits and are also considered to be stagnant or draining of life energy. Use of mirrors Mirrors have many uses in feng shui. Among other things, they bring pleasant views into a room, multiply abundance, activate stagnant energy in dark corners and hallways and deflect negative energy. A mirror is ideal when you can see yourself clearly in it. It is the only time you see yourself, and it is best that it be a true reflection. So putting full view mirrors is ideal as guests can see themselves in the environment of your event and make them feel more integrated. Avoid putting two mirrors placed on opposite walls facing each other as this can be disconcerting and make one feel ungrounded because when you look in the mirror you could see your reflection ad infinitum. This tends to bring up insecurities and make one feels disoriented in your event. Use of colours Colour is key in Feng Shui. Use colours to create balance. Every colour has a unique vibrational frequency and all things have a certain colour and intensity. For example, flowers and food are a great way to bring colours into your event. Light consists of the seven colour energies: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. Each colour is connected to various areas of our body and will affect us differently emotionally, physically, and mentally.
