Description

The central headquarter of the Fundacion Bertelsmann in Spain is located in the historic part of Barcelona, in the Born area. It offers two different spaces: Sala de Arcos and Sala Boveda. Two rooms which previously were a leather tanning workshop and which the restoration has kept its original personality characterised by the arcs on the top of the rooms and the vault.
The multi-purpose spaces can host different events: presentations, meetings, courses, press conferences, seminars, conferences, working breakfasts, etc.
The building, located opposite the Parc de la Ciutadella and a few metres from the old market Mercat del Born and the Santa Maria del Mar church, it is catalogued in the architectural heritage of the city. Constructed in 1883 as residence houses, the building is part of the general urbanisation project of the Ciutadella that Josep Fontsere i Mestres prepared in 1872 and in which the facade is modelled for all the buildings that are known today as "Porxos d´en Fontsere".
