IFEMA faces the new year with a new program that includes 68 trade fairs that will occupy an exhibition floor space of 1.1 million nett square metres and the participation of 18,000 exhibitors. The billing that it is expecting for 2005 is approximately 144.43 million Euros that represents a 9% growth compared to year 2003. The operating return was around 49.53 million Euros, a 9.1% more than the previous year and the nett profit is about 25 million Euros, a 27.5% more than the referred period.

The majority of the forecasted revenues corresponds to the by-products of the organisation of the direct shows promoted by IFEMA, a total of 43 in 2005, while the resources derived from the rental of space and services to trade fairs by external organisation (25 during the present year) and to conventions (it expects more than 300) is about 8% of the billing.

IFEMA, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2004 with a celebration of more than 1,100 trade fairs with some 62 million visitors and 495,222 exhibiting companies.

According to IFEMA, 10 billion Euros has been generated by the trade fair activity during this period. With respect to the last financial year, 2004 has gained the best results for IFEMA since its creation in 1980 which were hosting a total of 75 trade shows with a nett floor space of 1,254,656 square metres, the maximum reached until now by the instituition. The number of companies participating went up to 39,000, a 5% more than the previous year, and the number of direct exhibitors increased to 21,732, a 6% more than the pervious financial year.

4,100,000 persons have visited IFEMA during 2004, a year where the wealth generated was about 1.5 billion Euros and during which the IFEMA occupied the first position in the list published annually by Secretary of State of Trade with 43% of the international shows against the 19% from Valencia and 18% from Barcelona.
