Ljubljana hosted the 15th edition of the Unicorn Awards, the European events competition organized by the Slovenian firm Toleranca Marketing. The 2026 edition wrapped up with 131 projects submitted, 105 finalists from 24 countries, 103 brands represented, an international jury of 29 members, and 69% international attendees, with the festival fully booked. We’re telling you about it because we were there and because we love its live voting format, with both the jury and the audience casting their votes.

The format is the hallmark of these awards. The 105 finalists presented their projects live in two rooms at Ljubljana Castle, before the jury and the audience, with an open question-and-answer session for the jury members. After the pitch and the question-and-answer session held in the same room, the jury meets to deliberate on each award, incorporating the audience’s votes, which account for 20% of the final result.

The competition, which began as a local initiative and was formerly known as the Conventa Best Event Award, has gradually expanded the range of categories and the geographic origins of the projects. This year’s winners spanned product launches, internal events, brand activations, cultural events, and hybrid formats, with a level of production and creativity that the judges themselves described as the highest in recent years. Among the 29 jury members was Pepe Aguarod, a partner at Grupo Eventoplus, who has been part of the panel for years.

The awards ceremony was held at Ljubljana Castle following the international event “Do You Believe in Unicorns?,” which brings together agencies, clients, and creators from across Europe for the competition.
