Wekeep on reviewing the evolution of the sector over the past 50 years through the history of ICCA. It is time to analyze the evolution of the venues which host international conferences. It seems that convention centers lose weight meet new spaces.
In the last two decades the convention centers have given way to hotels. Since 2003 are outweighed by the hotels as a venue. In the 2008-2012 period 44.2% of the congresses have been held in hotels, convention centers hosted only 24.3%.
Attention! Universities are fast emerging as congress spaces, which currently represent 22.4%.
