What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
What is most effective way to present information in an event? How do you create a long-term memory? These are some of the issues that Andrea Sullivan, brain expert and president of BrainStrength Systems, has been investigating for several years.Rosa Garriga

“Learning occurs by strengthening the synaptic connections between neurons in the brain”, says Andrea Sullivan. “The neurons that activate together tend to do it again in the future. This is the key aspect of ´learning´: ´Neurons that work together, wire together.´ The more neurons activate, the more opportunities there are to turn on together and produce a stronger and extended learning.”

To enhance learning, we create multi-sensory experiences

Therefore, in order to enhance learning, we create multi-sensory experiences. “The goal is to activate the brain extensively, providing many sensory inputs”, adds Andrea.

“Attendees will have a deeper experience and will learn much more using a targeted multisensory stimulation. I say ´targeted´ because too much information provides an overload of stimulation, interfering with learning.”

That is the reason why the information should be consistent and integrated with all the senses involved, or at least it should aim to create a single perception. In other words, the brain should link the information that comes from one sense to all the other ones.
