What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
We know that helping others participating in a solidarity project, unites a lot and generates that feeling of belonging, of being part of a community that, in the case of an incentive trip, also generates a local impact on the destination. At the SITE Crystal Awards every year they reward the effort of incorporating CSR actions into incentive programs, a recognition of the best projects with purpose and return as was the Pure Performer's Club, organized by the DMC Streamlinevents for the data storage company Pure Storage, on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. An incentive trip is a great reward, of course. Although it is not only for going to a paradise destination to enjoy its spectacular beaches and corners. In this case, the reward was also to be part of a major achievement: strengthen loyalty to the company and build emotional connections between employees through collaboration, one of the company’s values.

Pure Storage (data storage specialists) celebrates the Pure Performer’s Club every year, an event that rewards the best employees (top performers) and wanted to go one step further and, for the first time, include a CSR component. His goal was to build an additional space for the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii (BGCH). To carry out this action, it allied with a partner on the island of Kauai, MC&A Hawaii, which was essential to boost the project, being on the ground and in charge of managing the coordination of the different entities that participated: Habitat for Humanity , BGCH, the local county and the government that expedited permits, approvals and negotiations with the contractor.

Pure Storage contributed $ 225,000 raised by the employees, with which covering the expenses of construction, labor, materials and daily activities, in addition to donations for the BGCH and Habitat for Humanity. The result was BGCH Lihue, a clubhouse that doubled the initially planned size of 1,800m2, and reached more than 3,600m2, which will allow more boys and girls to access this home and transform the lives of young people in Lihue .

Streamlinevents contributed its experience in logistics, creating schedules, roles and responsibilities, and helping all parties involved. The concept of CSR was a success, and was attended by 170 people. “Corporate social responsibility is more than writing a check: it’s about doing something meaningful at ground level. This is how we have a positive impact on the places where we take our groups, ”says Annette Chinn, president and director of streamlinevents.
