What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
The manager of international banking of HSBC in France wanted more participation by the attendees of his convention. He chose PowerVote´s app. Let´s see how...

The initial goal was to increase the engagement and participation of the audience, which was somewhat complicated for a large group (250 participants) compared to smaller meetings where a more intimate atmosphere leads to an open dialogue. Another objective was to collect feedback on certain aspects of the activity and ways of working in the company. And why not… to have a new element in the convention, adding a modern dimension.

The use of the app helped structure the convention around the objectives. From the preparation of content and presentations, the app and its voting system, messaging and interaction functions facilitated the speakers to develop their sessions. For example, each of them had to use at least one element of interaction offered by the tool. With this premise HSBC made sure that all sessions were really interactive and controlled the quality of the presentations.

One of the results that the organizers managed using the app over other techniques such as brainstorming or using flipcharts, was a feedback of higher quality, more elaborate and interesting. It seems that the use of iPads forced participants to focus more on their ideas and formulate more developed than those usually embodied to content flipcharts.

For example, breakout sessions were organised by type groups in which issues were dealt with, such as ´How can we improve the bank?´ Or ´What do you need to improve your performance?´. A list of ideas structured in 13 thematic areas on which the bank will work to improve their services and performance of its employees was collected. The result was a far higher number of suggestions and comments than in previous conventions, according to the organizer of the event. The fact that the participants were in working groups also contributed to the ideas come compared to the questionnaire that was sent via mail years to test these issues among employees.

The keys to this success? According to PowerVote, they are the following:

It was not an optional or mere support-oriented tool: its use was mandatory for both speakers and attendees.

The use of the tool was not merely focused on the technological aspect of providing attendees with iPads: the app itself was linked to the objectives and context of the event helping to structure its content.

Explain! Attendees will also be made a briefing at the beginning of the event featuring the app and how to use it during the convention.

Participants saw their participation was valued; especially the fact that their contributions will become part of the meetings and discussions within the convention.
