What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
After the success of the previous edition, in weekend format, this year - and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the programme - Comedy Central's FriendsFest returned with a new location: more space with a pavilion at IFEMA and ten days of event, becoming also itinerant with a new location in Barcelona, in the Poble Espanyol. And these are not the only novelties, in this edition the access to the festival has been prior entry payment. As it usually happens when good content generates good experiences: the public has not had any qualms about paying for the experience ad the sold out happened.

The Comedy Central channel wanted to celebrate the 25th of the sopa opera and for that reason, in addition to the special programming on the channel, the content jumped from the screen turning into an experience. The FriendsFest that began last year is consolidated within a more festival format and the pop-up that recreates the scenarios of the series goes to roadshow arriving in Barcelona.

In Madrid, when you entered through IFEMA 14 hall a stamp in your hand allowed you to leave and enter the fest throughout the day, since the idea was to spend time quietly in the restaurant area with Domino’s Pizza and Rodilla’s food trucks, rest at any point of the pavilion since the ground was all covered with grass with tables and chairs for a drink, a souvenir and merchandising store of the festival or play a game of Joey and Chandler’s table football. But above all, the space was designed for fans to enjoy taking photos with the most iconic elements of the series: a photocall with the frame of Friends, another recreating the prom, one more was a wedding chapel in Las Vegas where the attendees could dress as bride and groom and throw the bouquet. But the one that had more queues was the photocall that recreated the head of the series with the sofa and colored umbrellas while singing “I’ll be there for you”. A detail that caught our attention: to make more fluid the taking of photos and that the public could pose comfortably, in each photocall there was a person of the organization who took the mobiles of the assistants and made a photograph for them (all help to viralize images on social networks).

The highlight of the festival was the guided tour by the set that recreated Monica’s apartment and Central Perk, the bar where the protagonists met. The public could stroll through the sets, sit and be at ease in the living room, sit at the iconic sofa of the series in Central Perk or imitate Phoebe singing Smelly Cat.
