Tenerife is an island in the Atlantic Ocean belonging to the Spanish autonomous community of the Canary Islands. Together with La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro it makes up the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. With an area of 2,034.38 km² and a population of 931,646 inhabitants (2022), it is the largest island in the Canary archipelago and the most populous in Spain.

World Heritage listed by UNESCO
The island has another place listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the Teide National Park, which is the most visited in Spain and one of the most visited in the world. In it is the highest elevation in Spain and the third largest volcano in the world from its base on the ocean floor, Teide. For its part, the Anaga Massif, due to its natural and ethnographic wealth, was classified as a Reserve of the Biosphere, also by UNESCO, on June 9, 2015.1819 It is the natural area with the greatest number of endemic species in Europe.

Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, off West Africa. It is dominated by Mount Teide, a dormant volcano that is the highest peak in Spain. Tenerife is known for the Carnival of Santa Cruz, a huge pre-Lenten festival with parades, music, dance and colorful costumes. The island has many beaches (with sands that vary from yellow to black) and resort areas, including Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas.
