What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
The emperor would have been proud if he were to look beyond the Forbidden City today. This week in Beijing, CIBTM 2012 celebrates its seventh edition, as part of the China Meetings Week- dedicated to help the country grow and attract international corporate and association events.

The show celebrates its biggest ever, according to its organiser, Reed Travel Exhibitions, with more than 400 exhibitors, 8,459 pre-scheduled appointments with 413 Hosted Buyers. But numbers are not the sheer indication of growth that China´s meeting market is generating.

The impulse at CIBTM is clear as you walk down its aisle – China wants more meetings. Already with a strong and growing domestic market, the country is committed to also get itself into the international meeting scene.

With the launch of the China MICE City Alliance, Beijing is taking the lead in this initiative to joint efforts among the different Chinese cities to bid for international businesses.

According to Mr. Sun WeiJia, Deputy Chairman of BTD, “Beijing will take the lead to share with other MICE cities its resources, such as media, buyers and ambassadors programmes, to build China destination brand.”

And back to CIBTM, It just can´t get any better. Last night, everyone at the show enjoyed a special treat at the Great Wall.

There is no better and privileged way to enjoy one of the wonders of the world than enjoying a cocktail dinner and the lighting up of the Great Wall of China.

As the sun sets and the cool mountain winds blew, meeting professionals let this be know, China is ready to take you on.

CIBTM 2013 will take place from the 2nd-4th September at the China National Convention Center, Beijing.
