London City Airport delivers £½ billion to UK economy every year

An airport in the city centre? No, London City Airport is not located in Covent Garden, but with the move Eastward of the UK Capital city, the airport is acquiring a strategic role, and giving businesspeople and meeting delegates a very direct access to the City and to important venues such as ExCeL. This economic impact shows the economic weight of this increasingly important airport.
Where do the 500 million pounds come from? According to York Aviation, a specialist independent air transport consultancy, it includes:
– £197 million spent by business tourists and £115 million spent by leisure tourists coming via London City Airport (we see the business focus of the airport)
– £71 million from productivity benefits delivered through journey times savings by using London City Airport
– £21 million in Air Passenger Duty
– £100 million through operations and businesses at London City Airport that also support over 2,700 jobs
