Following the impact that his book Meeting Arquitecture had in our industry, Maarten Vanneste gathered a few key professionals from our industry to redefine meetings and focus them on what is their true function: communication. Grupo eventoplus was there...

New formats wanted! Maarten Vanneste´s book Meeting Arquitecture – A Manifesto made a lotof noise in our industry. In a nutshell, it states that most of the time, money and skills of our industry go to logistics and not to content or communication. He says we should review our communications formats, incorporate such sciences as psychology or sociology and find new ways to communicate.

Following this industry interest, Maarten just launched a workgroup with leaders of our industry, including publications (Grupo eventoplus was there), PCO´s, destinations, large associations and corporates, researchers and experts. The group gathered on 22nd of November in Copenhaguen to define how to go from manifesto to action. Another meeting will take place in North America, and the resulto f these two meetings should be the redaction of a white paper which will specify how our industry should move forward.

Hopefully, the classical theatre-style one-size-fits-all (yawn-included) format will give way to more variety and more delegate involvement in a not-so-distant future! The success of our industry depends on it!
