The Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Malaga is preparing to hold three important events this autumn related to the tourism sector that will put the capacity of the city as a congress destination to a test.
The first event is the Feria Internacional de Turismo Cultural, which will take place from the 14th to the 17th of October, with the confirmed participation of fifteen countries and seven autonomous communities, in addition to the different associations and companies from the sector. From the 13th to the 15th of October, TURITEC 2004, the V congress on Tourism and Information and Communication technologies. Lastly, from the 24th to the 28th of November, I is the Salón Inmobiliario del Mediterráneo, that will bring the main construction companies and promoters of residential tourism together. The show will also include the first international congress of real estate promoters from Andalusia, Congreso Internacional de Promotores Inmobiliarios de Andalucía.
“Malaga is a city that is going to occupy a preferred position in the congress sector, such as the Costa del Sol, which apart from sun and beach, offers many other attractive things like golf, gastronomy and high quality hotel”, according to the deputy mayor Patricia Marín Alcaide.
The congress sector is in full expansion, thanks to the gradual improvement of the infrastructures, the arrival of the AVE and the next expansion of the airport and the essential landmark of the congress hall, an avant-garde symbol of Malaga of the XXI century.
Since the opening of the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Malaga on the 22nd of March in 2003, and up to now, the facilities have hosted a totoal of 143 events, of which 14 are tradeshows, 66 congresses, conventions or work sessions and 63 are classified as other types of events. According to the organisers, 1,903,000 persons have visited the tradeshows, other 35,045 have participated in congresses. The total number of visitors within this year and a half, is 1,938,045 persons that have passed through the doors of Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Malaga.
