Meeting industry will adapt to changes in 2009, says the Futurewatch report

The initial executive summary of the study, made by American Express and Meeting Professionals International, shows that meetings and events budgets are expected to fall by 9%. To face this situation, planners and suppliers agree that an increase in creativity and innovation will be a necessary tool.

The survey, that this year had a record participation of over 2,700 professionals, also highlights that the economic effect on the industry is not quite as severe as first anticipated. Meeting attendance is expected to increase by 3% Europe, Middle East, and Africa, but decline by 5% in the United States.
