And what is eventoplus preparing you for a great 2026? SEPA brings together 7,800 participants in one of the largest congresses in Spain The best events of the year: purpose, values, emotion
A powerful edition of the PCMA association's flagship conference has just closed: Convening Leaders brought 4,211 professionals from 43 countries to Philadelphia to celebrate leadership, legacy and the future of business events. Sherrif Karamat, its president and CEO, reaffirmed the association's commitment to "driving the business events community as a catalyst for economic and social transformation." PCMA maintains its vision for 2030: to develop "a more connected, inclusive and future-ready global community that positions business events as a powerful catalyst for economic and social transformation."

Karamat emphasized that “business events are not just about convening, but also about leadership, trust and solving complex challenges. We are committed to challenging conventional thinking, developing innovation, immersive learning, experimentation and real business connections that drive people, organizations and communities forward.”

Celebrating young talent… and less young talent. Emerging talent was recognized in a variety of ways. As it does every year, the global student competition celebrated the creativity, strategic thinking and passion of young talent. PCMA also continued to invest in the next generation with its “20 in Your Twenty” program, which recognizes emerging professionals. It also celebrated the leaders and volunteers who have shaped PCMA over the years with its “Always a Leader” program and unveiled the finalists for the Visionary Awards Lifetime Honorees, which recognize individuals and organizations that redefine excellence, leadership and impact.

Opening opportunities and improving society. The association facilitates the participation of individuals and communities that may have previously felt left out, such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or Legacy Society Scholars. Its scholarship program also allows young professionals to participate in its activities thanks to the PCMA Foundation. During the event, several solidarity actions were also carried out: a blood drive was activated; 140 volunteers supported Pathways to Housing’s mission to eradicate homelessness by sorting donated items, assembling furniture and preparing essential items; 100 volunteers prepared aid packages for the American Cancer Society; and 60 volunteers prepared aid packages for Cradles to Crayons, supporting homeless or low-income children.

Education and innovation, including AI tools. PCMA announced that it will expand its training offerings with enhancements to its Professional Meeting Management program, evolving toward certification as a Business Events Strategist. It is continuing its scholarship programs designed to prepare leaders for complex challenges. It will also drive innovation through its AI-based platforms, Spark and Destinator, which provide professionals with data-driven insights and tools.

Collaboration with IAPCO. PCMA and the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers (IAPCO) formalized a collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes a framework of collaboration between both organizations. In Spain, PCMA already collaborates with the Event Manager Association in training activities.

Convening Leaders 2027 will be held in Miami from January 10-13.
