Since Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz made history in 1886 inventing the automobile, Stuttgart, stage of this historic moment, has been linked to the automotive industry and culture. The city celebrates the 125th anniversary of this historical moment in 2011, an opportunity for car-related celebrations and events.

One of the first highlights is scheduled for March. The “Retro Classics”, one of Germany´s most outstanding automobile exhibitions, will be held at the Neue Landesmesse Stuttgart. In addition to vintage cars, enthusiasts will find a wide range of accessories and spares, model cars and retro toys.

Other events include the weekend of 7th and 8th of May, when automobile fans from all over the world can indulge in their favourite pastime round about Palace Square. The event will span everything from the early stages of automotive history to the achievements in automobile development in the 20th century and the futuristic visions of car producers and suppliers. The visions of tomorrow and beyond can be seen on Palace Square at the innovations and technology exhibition. Future and concept cars, vehicles powered by electricity will illustrate the future possibilities of the automobile. The bridge between the past and the future will end on Königstrasse, where visitors can marvel at the very latest models at the popular “S-City mobil” car show.
