What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
First create your product, then roll it out! After developing a new model to define the precise needs of the company and design the right, innovative, effective meeting, the newly created Event Design Collective announces the launch of three new partnerships in Spain, Germany and the United States, which will deliver local event design education. The idea: to train 2019 event designers by 2019 (nothing beats a slogan…).

In case you had not noticed, event design is all over the place. After awareness building, we have entered a phase of education, and the theoretical trend, which was more seen in meetings industry conferences than in meeting planning, is getting real. Good news.

The latest example comes from Holland (why is all meeting design-related stuff always from Hollad or Denmark?). As their promoters point out, more than ever teams want to learn how to collaboratively create shared experiences, and have fun by designing for behaviour change using proven methodologies. Event Design Methodology using the #EventCanvas is one such tool. Since 2015, more than 800 professionals have been trained and 50 have obtained the CED (Certified Event Designers) certificate. Now, its founders want to democratize event design, launching the licensed partner network which will offer local partners the opportunity to offer Event Design Certification training in new languages, levels and geographies.

Trained facilitators using the Event Design using the #EventCanvas methodology will become Licensees to use the method to train and consult future practitioners. In our country, Event Design Collective Spain will be led by Angeles Moreno, current MPI Spain president. Other trainers are Gerrit Jessen (Vice-Chair of Finance on the MPI International Board of Directors) in Germany, Terri Breining, past Chair of MPI International Board of Directors and principal at Breining Group, for the United States.

The Event Model Generation, the EventCanvas.org Foundation and now the Event Design Collective were founded by Ruud Janssen and Roel Frissen (this last one, also with  Dennis Luijer). They wrote the “Event Design Handbook, Systematically design innovative events using the Event Canvas” in 2016.
