Tourism income in Spain reached 37.250,3 million euro during the year 2004, which represents a light increase of 1,02 per cent relative to the amount of the previous year, according to data published by the Bank of Spain.

The stagnation of income during the past year together with the strong increase of 21,7% of payment, up to 8.907 million euro, made the tourism and travel sector superavit decrease 4,1% in the past fiscal year, with a favourable balance of 28.343,3 million.

Parallel, tourism income increased last December up to 2.111 million euro, a growth of 1,96% relative to the 2.070,3 million registered in the same month in 2003. The superavit accumulated in December increased a light 8,8%, up to 1.377 million, weighed down by an increase of 3,1% of payment, that came up to 734 million.

Spain received 53,6 million foreign tourists during the past year, which implies an increase of 3,4% with regard to the definitive figure of 2003, according to the Fronturâ
