United States, Paris and Vienna are at the top of the destination ranking that hosted the most international events during 2008

As in previous editions, the criteria applied by ICCA for the classification are for mobile events, with fixed periodicity and with a minimum of 50 participants. According to the study, during 2008 there have been about 7475 events, about 800 more than the year before.

The United States, which since 2004 is among the top of the list, and Germany, both countries remains very closely on the classification. Spain and France were the two destinations that have greatly increased the number of events in relation to 2007, 40 and 79 respectively.

For the first time in three years, Paris shares with Vienna the first city position as most popular events. Barcelona is had increase the number of meetings in 30. And also for the first time, Athens, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Tokyo are among the top 20. Stockholm and Seoul have raised their position in the ranking, occupying respectively on 8 and 9 position.
