What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
We are in an industry of local players... but these local players often like to define international alliances to share leads, best practices, know-how, and possibly processes (27 names for event agencies, Global Event Partners, DMC Network, and recently the alliance of Pacific World and Access, for DMCs)... but it also exists for PCO´s: the World PCO Alliance announces a growth of 15% in 2013.

The alliance, consisting of 20 professional congress organisers worldwide, has handled over 500 congresses with over 450,000 delegates in 2013.

In another, less common move, it announces that its japanese member, Congress Corporation has opened their own convention center in Osaka. It is the first new convention center in Japan to be built, managed and operated by a PCO. Agencies managing venues is not common, and its impact on the reaction of other agencies remains to be seen…

The alliance also confirms the trend towards shorter lead times: AOSCE in Malaysia and ICS have experienced this trend. AOSCE secured in February 2014 three large events to be held this year and in 2013 ICS secured an event of 8,000 delegates with only 3 weeks lead time. Reactiveness is more important than ever.
