Interest in the latest event technology is high according to ibtm america post show research with 95% of Hosted Buyer indicating that they want to see more technology at the show. In this 2016 edition, the show has created "TechCollective" , an area located within the show´s Central Hub that will feature startups and live demonstrations. In an effort to further push this initiative, the show has announced that it will be awarding the "ibtm america top tech innovation award" for which the winner will receive a complimentary meeting pod in 2017 and a diary of appointments, PR and promotions through ibtm events global database and exposure in the innovation zone in the show ibtm world held in Barcelona. The winner will be selected by attendees who can cast their vote via Poken devices.
Participating TechCollective companies have been chosen based on their ability to provide technology solutions that address the latest trends and challenges within the meetings and events industry such as real-time audience engagement platforms; cloud-based software to manage content (presentations, polls); communication to stakeholders; intelligent show floor supported by beacon technology, staff management tool, gamification… In addition to the TechCollective , the Central Hub will feature knowledge sessions on hot topics in technology led by thought leaders within the meetings and events industry, and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) areas that will resonate with current trends within the industry.
