This means the existing board will have two more years to complete the tasks that were suspended or delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Amongst their priorities is strengthening their role as a lobby to strengthen the recovery of the MICE industry as well as strengthen international cooperation.

ICCA’s Iberian Chapter board was re-elected this december for a two year term. On a first reaction to the re-election, the Chair, Christoph Tessmar, says: “It is a privilege for me to continue two more years as Chair for the ICCA Iberian Chapter. I am grateful to our members for their trust and confidence. Our commitment is to continue working on interesting projects for our chapter and in special for the recovery of our industry”.

Jorge Vinha da Silva, Deputy Chair, emphasized: “I am very enthusiastic and thankful to our members for this re-election. All the Board is fully committed in continuing to help our members and the industry in such uncertain times. I truly believe only with this global cooperation including all the stakeholders we can go through this situation in the better way possible. The Chapter can count on us!”.

¿The priorities for the coming 2 years? According to Christoph, they will be “to work on lobbying and the recovery of the MICE sector; strengthen contact with the members of the chapter, especially with Portugal; recover the collaboration with the Latin American chapter started at the ICCA Houston 2019 congress; work with the ICCA headquarters so that the chapters have more visibility and influence on projects”. But most importantly: “to organize an annual meeting and assembly in person again”.

The Board includes as Chair Christoph Tessmar, director of the Barcelona Convention Bureau, as Deputy Chair Jorge Vinha da Silva, Altice Arena CEO, as Treasurer Alexandra Ramos, Algarve Tourism Board Senior MICE Manager, and the Vocals Carina Montagut, Manager Strategical Events – Feria Valencia, Francisco Quereda, Málaga Convention Bureau Director, and Eva Garde, Granada Convention Bureau Director.
