Major milestone for ibtm events: this year marks the 30th anniversary of ibtm world. Get ready for an emotional edition in Barcelona (November 28th – 30th). Like its previous editions, the show will include be a wide range of exhibitors, about 3,000 exhibiting companies from over 150 countries, with 70,000 pre-scheduled meetings. But, what else to look forward to in 2017?

Enhanced Hosted Buyer programme which will see ibtm events pre-selecting and qualifying Hosted Buyers and allow them to be fast-tracked through the process. This will allow more focus in inviting high-value Buyers. The programme has also been designed to add value for exhibitors by targeting buyers that match exhibitors’ needs. 

VIP Programme. A select group of elite Hosted Buyers will benefit from a VIP experience which will include limousine transfers, an exclusive VIP lounge, 5-star accommodation and a more flexible diary of appointments. 

More appointments: Hosted Buyers will now commit to 10 pre-scheduled appointments per day (previously 7), creating more appointments and more opportunities to do business. 

New exhibitors and buyers. Several exhibitors are taking bigger stands, and some who had shared in previous years are taking their own stands. New exhibitors include Visit Wales, Synergy International Italy, Fiesta Hotel Group, Meet Puerto Rico, Visit Almaty, Titanic Hotels, Ceara, Designer Incentives and Conferences India. 

Buyers will include corporations such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Gucci, Mars Incorporated, L’Oreal Active Cosmetics, Microsoft, Montblanc, Philips, and Volvo, and associations like The Optical Society, European Health Management Association, European Society of Ophthalmology, International Financial Cryptography Association, and UEFA. 

Start-up Pavilion. This new area will let attendees meet with a mix of suppliers to discover new technologies and experiential solutions. 

Knowledge Programme. This educational programme is designed to bring tangible learnings and have professionals ensure their finger is on the pulse of the industry trends and developments. The programme will be headlined by two renowned speakers such as Stella Rimington, the first female director general of MI5, the UK Security Service. The programme covers industry trends; engagement & experiences; safety, security and risk management; innovation, disruption and technology; sustainability and CSR; professional & staff development and business development and strategy. Finally, the ‘Dome’ is a dedicated space where destinations present themselves. 

Technology. The Technology and Services Zone and Innovation Zone will showcase the winners and finalists of the Tech Watch Award. Attendees can interact with the latest technology in the Innovation Zone which demonstrates solutions, applications and technologies. The Technology and Services Zone offers the opportunity to meet with technology suppliers. This year’s Tech Watch Award will also recognise companies with a new and innovative technology product or service. 

Networking events. ibtm world will include a 80’s themed Welcome Party to celebrate the 30th anniversary and MPI Rendezvous, which will take place at the Opium, the beach front nightclub. A highlight at the event is Networking Hour, which includes performances and live music and cultural experiences from some of the global exhibitors. Finally, the Meetings Leadership Summit, a high-profile networking event will kick off ibtm world as every year. 

Supporting the industry. ibtm events will once again be partnering with ICCA to host the Forum for Young Professionals, as it has for the last 11 years.
